Guess what? For the second week in a row, the Return of the King was the highest grossing movie in America. The public response to this movie has been phenomenal: in only a week and a half, the film has grossed nearly 200 million dollars. All the excitement over the film is definitely well deserved. Not only is the Return of the King a wonderful movie and a satisfying ending to an epic film trilogy, it has accomplished something that no movie has done before; it's made being a "fantasy nerd" (i.e. a person with an imagination who isn't intimidated by characters with tetrasyllabic elvish names) kind of cool. If you were unfortunate enough to discuss the history of Middle Earth with any popular kids before 2001 (The year of the Fellowship's release) chances are you spent a significant amount of time with your head stuck in a swirling toilet bowl. Now J.R.R. Tolkien is all the rage. He's become so popular, in fact, I have a feeling more and more people will be inspired to write their own fantasy novels. Fortunately, I have found a link for any aspiring fantasy writers. By following the simple steps in "How to write a best selling fantasy novel," anyone can easily write an authentic fantasy tale guaranteed to please even the most ardent "fantasy nerds." And trust me, you don't want to get on the wrong side of one of those people; those authentic replicas of elvish swords those people keep in their bedrooms can be awfully sharp and dangerous.
